Ahhh, 40 acres nestled in the rolling hills of north-western Alberta, now what will I get to keep me company and eat the grass? After considering various types of livestock, I became fascinated with the affectionate nature of the Miniature Donkey and knew they would be the right animal for me to raise. In 1992, 40 acres became my home and was the start of Half Pint Hill Miniature Donkeys.
I started out with three lovely Foundation Stock breeding jennets and had them registered and inspected with the Canadian Donkey & Mule Association (CDMA). In 1993, I purchased my brown Herd Sire, Storybook's Willie Wonka, who was registered with Miniature Donkey Registry in the US. That same year he was Registered and Inspected and passed into the Stud Book Registry of the Canadian & Donkey Mule Association. Willie's pedigree goes back to original imports. Many of his offspring (including third generation) have been black/brown, some with no light points. I have been dedicated to producing sturdy donkeys with excellent conformation that can be used for breeding, showing and driving or just to have as a loveable companion.
In February 2002, I married Vic Chiasson. Together we share our love for Miniature Donkeys and promote these wonderful, gentle creatures every chance we get. We take the donkeys to local Trade Fairs, Company Picnics, visit the Senior's Lodge, and compete in Miniature Donkey Shows. We have also hosted school field trips and folks who are interested in meeting a Miniature Donkey.
Visitors are always welcome!

"Miniature Donkeys possess the affectionate nature of a Newfoundland dog, the resignation of a cow, the durability of a mule, the courage of a tiger, and the intellectual capability only slightly inferior to man's."
-Robert Green, imported first Miniature Donkeys to America 1929.
